Handle dispute
Last updated: 2026-05-15
Every Bookmark Minder account is assigned a random public handle (e.g., quiet-pine-orbit) at signup. This handle appears in link-share attribution ("Shared by @quiet-pine-orbit").
When can a handle be disputed?
A dispute may be filed if a handle:
- Impersonates a real person or organisation in a way that could mislead a viewer of a shared link.
- Contains terms that are defamatory, harassing, or violate our Terms of Service.
Because all handles are randomly assigned from a wordlist, trademark infringement is unlikely. However, if you have evidence that a handle is being used to impersonate you or your organisation, we will review the case.
How to file a dispute
- Email [email protected] with the subject line "Handle dispute: @<handle>".
- Include: your name or organisation name, the handle you are disputing, and a brief explanation of the harm.
- If claiming impersonation, include a link to your official presence (website, social profile, trademark registration).
Process
- We acknowledge disputes within 3 business days.
- We resolve disputes within 14 business days of receipt.
- If a dispute is upheld, the handle is reassigned to a new random handle. The account holder is notified.
- Decisions are final. We do not transfer handles to the complainant.
Custom handles
Custom handles are not available in this version of Bookmark Minder.
